Out of curiousity, how big are these ants? Are they bull ants or something? I saw some ants in the backyard a few days ago but I didn't think they are big enough to photograph. I've seen bigger somewhere but not around here...
Really like that first one, very nice work.
I admit to being a little strange most days and even more so today. But the reason #2 gets my vote is the bubbles in the water. Fact is they are getting more of my attention than your superb capture of the ant.
Not that I think you should remove either the ant or the bubbles.
But the bubbles are the draw for my eyes.
"These guys" are actually ladies (females, that is). There's a reason they're called ants and not uncles
Both great shots, and if you're into ants you should look up E. O. Wilson, considered THE expert on ants: most amazing little creatures. Also look up 'super organsim".
Great shots David!

Hi Izzie, they come in all different sizes, but these ones were between 5 and 10 mm![]()
Cheers Jim, thanks for commenting!![]()
Thank's B, shut your left eye and its fineall joking aside I left the bubbles in shot so the viewer would have an idea what it was doing!

Cheers Jack, that's me educated again, must have a look at that later, much appreciated bud![]()
Thank's Barbara![]()
More stuff of nightmares David but well captured. I think you must have something of a Gerald Durrell in you.
Cheers John, maybe my O.B.E is in the post![]()
Very cool, love the detail.
Thank you Toby![]()
Amazing shots. You have managed to get virtually all of the two ants in focus. The only oof I can see is the near ant's left hind leg, and I suspect that this is actually motion blur. The second one is nice as well.
John
Amazing detail. Well done!
