Well, Trevor, obviously your wife is right - and Ansell Adams was completely wrong. If only he had used colour film he might have made something of himself
The b&w for me - by a country mile.

Hi, Trevor!
For me, it is the focus of your image. #1 is a bucolic landscape. It is static. #2 is an impending storm. It is dynamic. I can feel the tension.
#2 for me.
Thanks for sharing!
Marie
unless you darken down the colour to emphasize the storm I go to the dog house too.
All three of you --Trevor, Jack and Brian...go to the doghouse for choosing the wrong answer ... Thrish is watching this page....at least you have company...![]()

Hi Trevor, I rarely prefer B&W over colour but in this case I agree with Donald, Manfred and others. The B&W image is definitely more dramatic. I can't tell if the image is level or not as there are no reference points other than the horizon and that may actually tilt to the right. On the other hand, it 'feels' like the image should be rotated CCW a bit. Perhaps that uneasiness contributes to the drama?
I met a young couple on vacation once and the gal was introduced as "Miss Right". Later he added Miss "Always" Right! It was interesting to watch the interplay between these two over the next few days. I have often wondered how that relationship turned out. After 37 years, I'm sure you have determined what is important and what is not worth digging in your heel over!
B&W for me brings the drama.
Frank I will check the image when I get home; enlarge to 100% plus and check out the stacks on the natural gas scrubber plant in the centre.
One more aside about the possible inherent nature of male "wrongness". Look at the countries with repressive patriarchies where females are treated as second class citizens or worse. Quite the mess.
At the default size initially seen on my screen it was the B&W by a country mile however much that is. On viewing them individually at light box size I still preferred the B&W version but I did appreciate the colour version more than I had originally. (Of course as I am a male I could not possibly change my mind.......I suppose I am wrong in saying that)
When i look at those images with a happy mood, i am completely in favor of the colored one. The white of cloud, blue of sky and buff color of sand- all makes me happy
...and when i am serious and more analytical about them i am for B&W
So I don't compare and vote for both, where winner is the same person![]()
