Flower - with no Bugs !

It seems a long time since I managed to do anything not work related - last weekend we went to a local National Trust property near us for an afternoon- Duffryn House, nice place, this is a Welsh Poppy - Meconopsis cambrica - one of a few shots I have managed to process so far, this week has been manic at work. This weekend I really will try to play catch up !

    C & C always welcome

Very Nice! I might crop a tad from the bottom and left, a little too much negative space for my taste

Thanks Barbara, I see where that would make it a clear portrait of the flower, but I was aiming to get the 'in its situation' type of thing.

The next one I have got around to edit - Red Acer leaves against the green trees in the background

Thanks Barbara, they really stood out against the background, was a constant breeze so slight movement blur but I dont think it detracts too much from the image

#1 is a bit soft Mark but very minimalist sort of shot. I love it. I love both the compositions I can't pick a favourite between the two of them.

Red Acar, sharpest near the corner, I like the background.

Thanks Izzie, yep they do blow about in the wind a bit and I was lazy and did not use the tripod either may go back and sharpen it a bit as I did not apply any to this image)

Cheers John, yep also blowing in the wind a bit so nearer the tree the less movement and me being lazy again - hand held - should have put on tripod and waited !

    Hello Mark
I very much like your approach at showing the flower/leaves within their context; great colours, good compositions. If I could wish, I would "darken" the background a little bit - especially on the poppy, which would then stand out more. And, pardon me, I would remove the distracting watermark.

Hi Erwin, Thanks appreciated, I tend not to do much in PP so wont even attempt to darken the background but removing the logo for here - yep can do that

If you enhance the contrast of the first image, the colours may come out...but keep the second image as such; it is so lovely

I think #1 is great as it is. The colour is just as I recall from seeing my last Welsh Poppy. They certainly do not strike you as being a particularly vibrant yellow.

John, thanks, they do tends to be a bit pastel yellow - the petals are not shiny like a celandine so definitely agree with you there

Matt, cheers, no spiders - this time
