    Keep working - C & C are welcome

    Dear Friends,

I have tried to capture one more candid moment. In this pic also the main subject is almost in the center but by keeping stripes on both sides - of door (one side thin and on the other side wider), some how I have tried to keep balance.

Kindly share your view on this.

    Regards,

    Tejal

Got to say really think you've got a good eye for street photography. I've been quietly admiring your work for a little while now

Sometimes centered portraits work and it does in this one. Nicely captured.

Just a thought, Tejal. A square crop losing part of the right side would concentrate more on the man. But does the texture on those right side doors add to the scene or distract from the main action?

Those cross battens and even the latch are pointing towards the centre so that certainly helps to guide the view towards the man.

For me, the subject of the picture as posted is tending towards being the workplace rather than the worker. So I think it depends on your intention. If the craftsman is intended to be the subject of the photo, then I would agree with the idea of a closer crop, as suggested by Geoff.

    Cheers.

Tejal - I know that you like to include part of the building exterior to frame your shots. I find sometimes it works and other times it really takes away from the shot. In this case, let me present a slightly different view that gives the image a totally different perspective.

    Keep working - C & C are welcome

My rule of thumb is if the negative space is not adding anything meaningful to the image, it shouldn't be included. The door and door frame, in this case, I find weaken the image.

I have to go with Manfred, the person in the doorway is the story, not the person through the doorway.

I like both versions very much. They tell two different stories, both interesting.

That depends on the story the photographer is telling. Both are effective stories in my mind.

However, if I was telling the story of the person through the doorway, I would crop on the right to exclude the door hinges and everything to the right of them. Doing so allows the viewer to look through the blue panels that very nicely complement the subject's blue shirt without being distracted by unnecessary information too far beyond the door frame.

thnx for your valuable input. I do have such shot too where i have not included the door part, but some how I like this version. No doubt without door part too, pic is looking nice.

Thanks Manfred for your feedback. I understood your point and will keep this in my mind. Small but very important thing.
