Interesting shot, John. I'm wondering why, given the title, you didn't give us the whole shadow. Would this be a good candidate for a b&w conversion, do you think? If so, I'd love to see a mono version.
Oh yes, I think I prefer the mono. I also like the second shot, where we see more of the dancer's face and her smile. I am curious; what's the context?
She is part of an aerialist troupe. This particular photo was taken during the third section of the act; which consisted of comedy, preparation (her and her partner constructed the elevated platform), and the feats of gravity defying maneuvers. Thanks for the comments.

It's not a bad thing, painters have used foreshortening for centuries to help simulate 3 dimensionality in their works. It's not so much a cause as it is a reality, when viewed from a high or low angle the extremities are seen as receding into the background. When captured by camera it can look very odd.
