    Two birdies...for C&C

I am still trying to shoot some small backyard BIF to no avail so these two are what I came up with for practice with Photoshop CS6 which I bought for a bargain $298 yesterday...pity the title of my folder is Flying birds and all I got of any BIF is nothing yet... Still hoping...

1 Robin lunching on a worm...

    Two birdies...for C&C

    2 Harassed looking cardinal...

    Two birdies...for C&C

Whenever I do not have my camera, they are all out there slowly landing on the bird feeder, once I have my camera, they all rush to and from the trees or the twigs near the rocks. I just can't seem to win here....

Any C&C will be appreciated here...I am still new to CS6 although I find that it is only a matter of different button to push...for more easier features.

Yes, you have focused on the tail in #1 (closest point to the camera) so the head and that juicy worm, which should have been the main subject, are starting to look a little soft.

One thing about wildlife photography is to make sure you are relaxed with the camera. If you get too tense and worried about getting that perfect photo they will sense that something is wrong and doubt your actual motives for getting close to them.

Try photographing some flowers etc, without getting over worked up about it, then let the original subjects come to you.

Nicely done on the second capture, the first has a bit of appeal to it; has a bit of a miniature effect going on.

I can relate to the your frustration Izzie.
I like the colours of #2 as well as the fact that you
    caught it off guard.

Well done on the 2nd shot, Izzie.

If the birds are camera shy, try keeping the camera out of sight and releasing the shutter ie not pointing it at them, and keeping still yourself. That may help them become accustomed to you making strange noises, and then they won't scatter at the sight of it.

    Like the Cardinal shot Izzie.

You are trying to catch a bird such as the Cardinal in flight? That is a tough project and I wish you luck.

I should had uploaded the other one with the sharper front but I like this one better...I had done quite a few shots of this and my camera has an option for a silent clicking...

I was actually relaxed at the time but the bird kept moving and turning around and bending to pick up more worms on the ground so not all shots are as perfect. I stationed myself behind the rails so I was reasonably close to it but not too intruding...I can do a reshoot on Thursday...

Try photographing some flowers etc, without getting over worked up about it, then let the original subjects come to you.
I have some beautiful roses and the Asiatic lily at the front garden and hubby asked me to take some photos of them before they disappeared but I like to try small bird BIFs first...flowers are just too easy ... and with Refine edge option in Photoshop, I am getting the image pop that I like...

Thank you for your feedback and comments...appreciate it very much...

Would you believe that was taken behind the glass door which I just cleaned earlier??? The wonders of Photoshop really made this one clean...the birdie was shaking/fluffing its feathers when I took several successive shots and picked the best one of them to practice my pp on...

Thanks for the comment and feedback. I appreciate it very much.

Izzie #2 is lovely, small BIF are difficult because they move so much more erratically especially in the backyard environment where there is not a lot of room. Ducks at the park may be a better place to get your BIF shot. Or maybe out in the country. The smaller the area the harder to get it in flight has been my limited experience.

I was almost out of sight Greg...I was operating behind the deck rails. As I have already said, my camera has a silencer ... I mean it has the option to be quiet without hearing the shutter goes off. I was just frustrated that when I do not have my camera and was just watching the dogs from the swinging chair at the side of the house near the feeder, these birds has the perfect flight pattern that can be photographed.

Thank you for the feedback and comments. I do appreciate it very much...

Thanks Ziggy...it is so much of hairpulling two hours a day experience getting nothing but birds already on the landing zone...one day, Ziggy, one day...
