    Just some rocks

When we bought this house, part of the backyard was (and still is) layered with rocks.
They're just ordinary rocks, nothing special.
But after it rained last week, they looked bright and shiny, and actually more colourful.
Then the sun peeked through, and I kinda liked the effect on this patch of rocks.

I like the image Kris, very nice colorful stones I have a lot of stones inside of my house too and I keep some of them in a transparent bowl filled with water to make them look more lively. For the image, your exposure looks good and there is no blown out highlights because of the wet parts. IMO the image seems a bit dark on the right side , I would brigthen that part just a bit to see how it works. The light in the image might look more balanced that way

Very nice, makes for a good subject to test out the capabilities of your camera.

I agree that it's a nice picture, but I dont agree on some comments.
Some blown out highlights as I can see and too heavy sharpening in my opinion.
The blueish light in the reflections looks like you used flash aswell. Am I wrong?

    Hi Binnur,

Thanks for your feedback. Originally I did lighten the RHS, by after comparaison, I decided I like this one better. Just a matter of taste, I guess.
I wanted a real separation between the sunny patch and the shadow part. Actually, I did darken the shadow a bit.

No flash, but the raw file was slightly over exposed. You may be right on the over sharpening - I have a tendency of doing that.
Thank you so much for your feedback.
Edit: can the bluish cast come from the blue coloured rocks? When they're dry, they look kinda grayish, but when they're wet, they look really blue.

You reminded me of an event that happened years ago when, new to photography, I was just beginning
to "See". T'was a lowly woodpile that to which I never paid no mind until once...in that morning light,
it turned to gold. I was treated, for a brief moment, a magic moment too quickly gone.

Those magic moments are way too special to pass them by...take a moment and look as they are there.

These rocks would look great in an aquarium.

Nicely done, Kris...I really love the treatment whether you like it or not. It is but once in a lifetime you are shown something that you must take a shot of and this is one of them...Nice find...good shot!

    Matt and Chris,
I was thinking of printing it and hang it in the hallway. I don't see it as a bathroom picture.

I'd put that in the hallway or near the entrance or in my case, at the wall at the top of the stairs...I am getting sick of that TWA airplane that is over there...too strong and been there too long...

Hallway or top of the stairs - either one would work in my case.
    See what hubby prefers.
