The first one, I like the near dark sky, just enough blue to be captivating.

    Re: Whats your favourite

The first one has potential, Greg, but for me it is just too wide and over complicated. That tower on the far left is too 'disjointed' from the rest of the scene. A crop, like #2 holds together without 'attention wander'.

#3 is a simpler scene but it comes together well with that foliage on the left guiding your view further into the image.

There is something about #4 which just doesn't quite work for me. Possibly the reflections are too bright and 'streaked' so it tends to give a somewhat harsh appearance.

I adore the 1st image! Unique and beautiful... I love the tones, the tree and especially that building and reflection. But I prefer it cropped closer (just off of the right hand side (not the bottom) like the 2nd image.

Followed by #3 because I love that forest of trees and their reflections... Magical! If it were mine I would crop it off of the right side (losing the beautiful star bursts ) because it looks like a scene from a fairy tale - wall hanger... (#1, too) Actually at this moment I'm changing my mind and thinking #3 is my favourite.. But I love both of them.

Love the colours in #1, like others have said I would look at a crop.

If you place the silo on the left up against the edge of the frame It will anchor it in the image, you can even crop some of it, say to the tree. The foreshore below it will then lead to the brighter part of the image.

If you do put the left hand side of the silo against the edge of the frame you may need to straighten it a little as you will lose the strength of it's position if it is not plumb.

Greg...I like #1 and #2 but cannot make up my mind which one I prefer. Both of them have potentials to be wall hangers. I like the overall look of #1 but I love the blue-ish tone of #2.

#3. I would be tempted to slightly (very slightly) darken the trees so it looks more "nightlike".

Very nice images #3 and #4 for me!

I love the depth the trees give in #3 and the reflections in #4 are amazing!

Thanks for all the comments and I like that there are lots of different opinions on the images, makes it an interesting exercise.
I have edited #1 and #3 along the lines suggested by Geoff, Christina, Rob & Trevor.
Interested on what you think now.
Late afternoon here, I'm off to catch a sunset
    Regards, Greg

Just quietly Matt, so do I.
I think the wharf area adds another point of interest to the image

Thanks Griddi, #1 is my pick of them as well. I was mucking around with white balance settings that night and shot a few in tungsten just for something different hence the blue tones.

The revised #1 does it for me closely followed by the original #1.

    Re: Whats your favourite

    Hi Greg,

Revised #1 - Very nice but I miss the back side of that building because it is special.

Revised #3 - After viewing the revised image (which I love) and moving it around in the lytebox, I miss the starbursts and the building that I think might be a windmill. So after all of that my favourite would be this one but cropped at the far edge of the windmill (to include it and the reflection because it is special and the forest leads the eye to it) My apologies for changing my mind... All that said this one is definitely my favourite of the set. Unique and beautiful! (I adore the windmill and that forest)

Greg: I like what you did with the trees in #3 but now to be endlessly picky; i prefer the original crop format (a lot).

    Thanks for the comments everyone.
#1 Just as a side note, the large building on the left is a huge un-used grain silo which is currently under construction to be converted into a hotel complex.
#3 Christina glad you picked a favourite that is a crane on the wharf I think you are talking about unless we have crossed lines as there is a windmill in the last image.
Took some shots from the other side of the river last night and will post when edited.
    Regards to all, Greg
