Re: Mini Motoring 2
I can't look at a mini without getting nostalgic. Summer 1970 and our Morris Mini, which was built by a mechanic friend from bits and pieces found in scrap yards in Dublin, is covered in small flies after a journey to the West coast of Ireland. The original body/chassis was first registered in 1964. This was our first car and we believed it could go anywhere. We drove on our honeymoon in it in March 1971. New customized minis are great but this, apart from the home-made badge on the bonnet (hood), is the genuine article. The car has most likely been recycled several times since, perhaps into parts of an Aston Martin or one of the Jags so admired by Brian, or perhaps it is now part of the hull of a Super-tanker. I hope it is not just rotting in a field in the Irish countryside.
The camera used to take this shot is another story. It is an Olympus 35SP purchased in 1970 which I sold to my brother in 1971 who, sadly, four years ago passed away. We found the by then much used camera in his belongings and I still have it, in perfect working order, today. I keep meaning to run a film through it for old time's sake.
So much nostalgia.
By the way, really nice images Jon.

Re: Mini Motoring 2
Nice series Jon which brought back memories for me. I loved to drive my two minis, they were amazing cars though not without problems. But still I did enjoy changing rear subframes etc. I'm not sure that thirty plus years on I would now enjoy working on a mini in a garage barely large enough to get around each side of the car. Thanks for the memories Jon, especially that of our honeymoon and the "Bride" (SWMBO) wearing hot pants ( you don't see many of those nowadays) the same colour as the car :-))

Very nice addendums, Jon...I like that you convert some to Black and White...and I am not a B/W fan...I like those ones.
