    Gladiola

Series of pics of same plant, background is living room wall, using table-top tripod, and 10 second self-timer for 2 & 3.

Nice efforts, have you considered shooting from a higher angle? In most shots we are only seeing the bottom of the bulbs.

The upward tilt of the camera was deliberate, & I hadn't considered shooting from higher up.
In that respect [composition wise] what should I be aiming for? [pardon the pun]
When I get a few more suggestions, I'll have another go.

    Hi Norm,

More of what we see in the third image, the stigma and anther or basically the same things that attract the birds and bees.

If you do try a reshoot, Norm, I would try to have just a fraction more space at the top and show a little bit more of the container; or nothing at all. The closer shots are fine.

    Hi Norm,

I agree with Geoff on #1 - if mine I'd also clone out the dark mark (insect?) that's on the wall.

In fact; if I were shooting your Gladiola, I don't think I would have shot (or cropped in PP) as you have on any of them.

In #2; I want to see the whole top.

In #3; the stamen are slightly left of centre, with an area of green showing at right edge of frame that attracts my attention. Given your angle to the bloom here, I'd place the stamen around the lower right 'thirds' intersection, perhaps with a hint more looking down into it as John mentioned.

    Hope that helps, Dave

I've just realised what this is - a picture nail.
Picture was taken down and I've just been "reminded" to put it back

    All ideas and suggestions noted.
    I'll have another go soon.
    Thanks to all.
