What a great shot, it's like he's wearing a little tiny Kabuki mask: It's such a pained expression it's one I image a few members here have when they're commenting
Everything seems sharp and detail is amazing and to me the background (we may hear from the background police on this) is perfectly benign. I think, if you're are really into insects and dragonflys, this would be a great image to print and hang.
Unusual angle; but it certainly works.
That is unusually good Jim,
Well done,
PS I'm saying nothing about the background
Looking at it full size in the Lightbox, I find myself asking how it would be if it was cropped more tightly. Does it need so much background at the right and left-hand sides and at the top?

Have say that I also like your version. I tried a different crop and it was very similar to what you did with just a little more space on the right.
Would love to have some more opinions.
And BTW Donald thank you for the feedback, very much appreciated.
You started with a nice shot getting in right on camera in the first instance, but a much stronger image that Donald did here! Having seen much of his work in B/W, I think that man can see in colour too... (pun intended...)
Donald's crop is good, but I prefer the original.
John
Beautiful capture! Love the head on view. I prefer Donald's crop because it places more attention on the dragonfly and the beautiful detail captured.
Thank you Christina, John, John and Izzie for adding your comments.
