Candid of a 2 year old "Green Bay" fan C&C welcome

Took this yesterday of this little boy -- it's a candid -- not posed. Looking for feedback on B&W conversion and anything else you see. Thank you

On the conversion - It's good. Nice, rich tones. What software was used?

There are three bright spots in the background - top right; directly above his hat; at the left edge at the same level as the cap peak. I'd think about burning those to darken them up. If you're using Silver Efex pro, put a control point on each of those and reduce the brightness.

I'm sure there's one in his car, but not in the image Jim ;-)

Very nice! As to Donald's suggestions, you can reduce the brightness and/or contrast on the bright spots in the background to achieve whatever results you prefer.

Thanks for commenting Donald. I only used Capture One. It did take me awhile to be pleased with it - the WB was off the first time, and after I corrected it, it made a huge difference in the conversion to B&W.

The bright spots were troublesome to me too. I did some work on them. I couldn't get them any less obvious without "things" starting to look a bit odd. I love the bokeh my lens creates; however on sunny days, I am ending up with these very bright spots. Are there any tips on how to control this when you do have to shot on a sunny day mid-afternoon?

Thanks for your comment Mike. See the comment I just posted to Donald. Was having a bit of a problem with those spots. I did reduce the brightness, that's the result shown. I'll have to play with the contrast as well -- hadn't tried that. Thanks

I'm surprised about that. WB does make a difference but usually not much of a difference. Are you converting using a color filter or are you desaturating to achieve the monochrome version?

With Capture One, I usually get the colored version to my liking, then I make a clone variant, and ask it to be changed to B&W. Although I do have access to filters, I didn't use one on this, nor did I change any of the color variables once converted, as I liked it as is once the WB was corrected. I had the green off in the color version Mike and a lot of this image has green in it.

Wow, I thought you were kidding me since I said "anything else you see"... Guess those CIC gremlins are at it again.

That is strange...I am glad this capture is more easier in the eyes to show than the other crude ones the gremlins substitute there, Ziggy...

Kim...I like the look of this little boy and the shot you did, forget about the bright bokeh at the moment...his cute expression is what caught my eye here...I still there is too much the of board at the bottom which doesn't change the mood his face created there...Good job! Love his eyes...did he know you are taking a picture of him?

Lovely portrait and very nice conversion. My only thoughts in addition to the above are that you might selectively sharpen around the eyes - brings out a bit of sparkle - and take down the highlight next to his rights eye a tad.

That looks better. Big improvement over the car seat.

Thanks Izzie. I wanted to leave a bit of the board as it was made by his grandmother and dad to send match box cars down... and he played with it most of the afternoon.
