    Path in the woods

I was not gonna leave my park without a shot...any shot would do even though it's late.
Were it you, what would you have done differently, or...is the scene even worth it?

It's a nice scene, I would change the white balance to give it more warmth. As shown, this would work if you had a figure somewhere on the path, giving it a somewhat fairy tale look.

My suggestion would be to lose a little off the right side, but still keeping the path in the right bottom corner. I agree with John it does seem a little too blue especially the path.

I agree with the other comments about colour. It looks like a JPEG shot in daylight with Tungsten WB. It looks OK to me as a more natural daylight scene...

...but perhaps you want it blue.

    Cheers.

I think you could try going darker in the shadows, with perhaps a hint of blue, to produce a rather sinister appearance; but not that bright blue look.

Was thinking along similar lines. Desaturated and tone curved it some. Also tilted the trees in a bit and squeezed it down, height-wise . .

I prefer the original. I enjoy the fairy tale look the blue cast gives it.

I like the cropped version best. I also like Philip's change to the white Balance, giving the photo a more natural look. I'm not in favour of blue cast, unless that is what you were trying to achieve.

One of these days I'll reshoot the scene taking you all's advice into consideration...
maybe work the scene a bit more. Thanks for your tips.

I agree with Kim, the first one is best for me.

I don't buy into this "looks more natural" thing

    Re: Path in the woods

Was looking at my earlier effort and felt that the lightness at right and in the immediate foreground was detracting from the ominous look a bit. So, I cropped for a more foreboding mood:

    Path in the woods

Leaning the trees inward was an attempt to make them more 'threatening' . . .

That is very much along the lines of what I was thinking about, Ted.
