    Beauty of Dal Lake, Kashmir

    Dear All,

Herewith I would like to share some old pics of Dal Lake, Kashmir, India. These pictures were taken during 2013. By that time I was having Samsung Digicam and have not started pampering my photography hobby.

I would like to have your inputs for my betterment.

    Regards,

    Tejal

    Hi Tejal,

I quite like the compositions of all three and they all have pretty good exposure and nice, consistent bright colours, which says something for your Samsung (or any recent PP you may have applied).

#1 It isn't quite level, but the over-riding feeling I get viewing this is that I'd have liked to have seen more faces and less backs (of people). I also don't know what's going on, if I were to guess; it might be that this is some kind of 'floating market', or perhaps just seller's crowding tourist sightseeing boats hoping to sell their wares.

#2 A great composition using leading lines so well, spoiled completely by not being level - which could have been fixed in 2015 in PP even if taken in 2013. It is good that "Mr Wonderful" is looking at us.

#3 Would have been improved if there could have been some separation between the boat and the row of nearest timber piling that comes from the right hand side. However, I accept that your shooting position and the course taken by the subject boat may have precluded this. It is a nice scene. I might suggest cloning out the dark spot on left, possibly a bird, since it attracts the viewer's eye, but is too small to be recognised.

I hope that helps you, Dave

Thanks Dave for your valuable inputs. I will surely keep all the points in mind next time.

I'm sure that many of them have already been learnt, judging by your more recent pictures.

Therefore I'm not sure how helpful it is to you to go back in time too far, to when you knew much less - but it must have some value. If nothing else, it confirms you appear to have a natural ability to compose a nice image, which is good.

I'd recommend getting out more now, your free time permitting, to shoot as much as possible and post those for critique.

Sure Dave . And agree with you about posting my recent shots to learn more or for improvement. Recently one of my picture of Himalayan range, which was taken during my that trip to Leh in 2013, has been selected in top 100 aerial pictures, organised by International Mountain Summit 2015. Which is as follows. By that time, I was not doing any kind of PP too, but how PP enhance the beauty, that I have understand now .

    Tejal,

    Nice series.

2537-I feel this image needs the front of the boats in the shot to really bring the viewer into the scene, also crop out most of the sky as it presents too much blandness to the composition.

2522-Good partial capture of boat signage, horizon seems to sweep downward.

2557-Nicely done, good use of lines, exposure on boater.

I like the Himalayas shot as well.

Wow! I'm hoping to be able to do some travelling in this region over the next year or two as I'm currently based not far away - these photos are certainly inspiring!
