Sometimes you see something that is just made for mono. That's how this seemed to me at the time.

Looks like the Calgary Tower to me, and a very nice shot of it. I've been to Calgary many times but have only gotten close to the tower once.

I suspect I would have gone for colour, given the beautiful blue skies Calgary gets.

Concrete and clouds Manfred. I especially wanted to make the most of those interesting whisps. We don't see clouds like that much in the UK.

In color I would expect to see this on a calendar, magazine layout or other commercial work. In B&W I would expect to see this hanging on a lobby or gallery wall somewhere as art.

Lacking such a wonderful situation to showcase the print, at least put it at the top of the stairs. Lacking any stairs, add a lower or upper level to the home to justify adding the stairs. That print certainly justifies undertaking such a major project.

Thanks all for a great set of comments. I've never thought of it as a print but that is something to ponder since my other half keeps encouraging me to hang one or two of my images. Mind you, she doesn't have the best of memories of Calgary. We were on our way to Banff and managed 24 hrs here. However, the hotel was next to the tower and so we went up. All was well until I asked Susan to pose next to the observation window which she did until she realised she was standing on a glass floor with nothing else between her and the street below. It seemed to bother her somehow.

I love monochrome the most. In this case I'm with Manfred. I think this would be stunning in big bold colours.

Thanks for the feedback Ole. Thanks Binnur. That's generally the problem with portrait oriented shots. You do need the lightbox even on a large screen.
