Semi-soft case for camera & short lens?

    Does anyone make one?

I have the standard Nikon CF-DC2 case, which fits the kit 18-55mm lens perfectly.
I was just looking for something smaller when I put my Nikkor 35mm prime lens on it. I would like to keep things as compact as possible.

I'm a brand new owner of a D5200, and I am a little paranoid about carrying the camera around naked. Am I crazy?

I miss the old two-piece cases that came with film SLRs.

    Thank you!

A great place to peruse camera cases is on eBay for both used and new cases.

I personally don't like the old two-piece type cases but, here is a selection of them on eBay.

I especially don't like genuine leather cases since I consider them breeding grounds for mold and fungus.

This neoprene case might work for you:

Here are a selection of cases and pouches on eBay

Often, when eBay lists something like a case for a specific model camera, it is a generic case and applicable to other cameras.

I don't carry my cameras in a case when I am shooting.

Yes I'd say that you are being a bit paranoid - It's impossible to take a picture with the camera in a case. When I am out shooting, my camera is on my shoulder, on my chest or in my hand. Always in a position where I can get it into shooting position in a second or two at most.

If I waited to take the camera out of the case, I'd never have gotten many of the my best shots.

That doesn't mean I don't have a camera bag. I have several, but they are primarily used to protect the gear during transport, not while I am shooting. These cases all have places for my lenses. I personally find the small cases you are looking for useless; they take up space and prevent me from getting at my lenses when I need them in a hurry.

Thanks guys. It sounds like an attitude adjustment is all I really need!

Me? I go with neoprene. Usually Op-Tech these days, although I used to use Zings.

Because some days, I just want to throw my camera into a purse/backpack, and wrapping stuff in towels is kind of a PITA. I don't use them together with a proper camera bag, but in lieu of one.

However. In your case, where it's the 35/1.8 vs. the 18-55, I don't think you're going to find a case with the precise fit you envision, as those two lenses are pretty similar in size.
