The final color of Autumn C&C Welcomed

This was taken the same evening as my other recent post in this category. The light was splendid that night. Today it snowed, so fall's spectacle of color is coming to a close and this will be my final fall image :-)

I meant to mention in my other post -- both images were shot on A camera mode. I def improved thanks to the help provided by William W, Dave H, Mike B, & Manfred on my post "A Child's Joy". Thanks so MUCH!!!!

Very nice, Kim! I would like to see more water, less sky.

Thanks for your comment Dean. I thought about that as well and it would have been a lot easier as there were wires I had to clone, but decided against it for the following reasons: the landscape became too centered; I felt that cloud needed some room above it - felt squished without it; and I like the branches on the left going all the way up. That was just my personal preference :-)

    Beautiful scene and colours!

I have to agree with Dean on this one, I would crop just after the first triangular branch.

Great colours, Kim. I agree with Dean about the framing. I am more interested in the reflection of the cloud in the water than the cloud in the sky. I think you could easily crop about a quarter from the top.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Since there seems to be a consensus that it needs a crop, here is the revised image. :-)

Hi again Kim . Although the winter is at the door in some places around the world, I'm still with short sleeves and sitting outside by the sea. That's why I have a bright screen which prevents me from commenting on the brightness and the contrast . But your new framing looks better than the first one

I think the new version does look even more spectacular than the original.

You're lucky to be sitting by the sea Binnur :-)

IMO, this one looks best viewed on a large monitor.

Thanks Stu. I've changed my opinion and like the crop as well :-)

    Nice shot, Kim.

Time to throw out another composition "rule". Having the horizon on or near the centre line can (and does) work quite well.

A "killer" frost went through this part of the world a couple of days ago, so the fall scenery / photo opportunities are disappearing for another year...

Re: The final color of Autumn C&C Welcomed

Kim I am going against the flow to crop out the sky, to me that is an easy simple fix. Myself, I added a GND filter (1.35 stops) in post from the top ending just above the trees in the far distance. Now a reflection on water is usually about 1-stop this darkened the sky so the reflection now looked brighter. Then overall I moved the highlights and shadows slider to the right which helped pop the trees, the shadows slider helped to bring out some detail in the trees to the left on the image. finally I added some clarity overall about +25 which again helped to pop the colours of the trees.
It is just me I hate taking the easy way out, by cropping some of the sky out those branches on the left really bother me, as they did not before when there was more sky.

    Cheers: Allan

I would agree with Allan that it does not need the crop. However, I do not think that it needs the PP he suggests. I think that the first image is good as it is.
