    Autumn Colours (nearly).

The leaves are just beginning to show their Autumn colours and another week should see them reach their peak but we are due some windy weather and so I dashed out to see what I could find. This is Bolton abbey near Skipton. It's a few metres higher than where I live and I thought that the colours might have been a bit further forward but no such luck. I liked the path as a lead in but I supect that a tighter crop around the buildings and trees might also produce something.

I echo what Nandakumar sezs -- it is a beautiful place, made more so of your processing. All the elements are there to balance the shot and the inclusion of that human with two dogs complete the picture, the other three people on the side, not so much because they can be irrelevant and not be there at all. What caught my attention most was the clouds that seems to embrace the place, like giving the whole scene a shine, an attention. Maybe that light also gives the trees in the centre of the shot almost shadowless? Just a thought...

I would crop about 2/3 of the sky to put the emphasis more on the trees, the dark clouds also wouldn't distract this way.Very nice composition and colors

    Thanks all for your comments.

Matt, I was trying for the classical zig zag through the comp. The buildings are just one leg in the journey from the steps to the horizon.

Binnur, that might work. I will try it.

I love it. I concur with Izzie about the human and the two dogs. I do not think the picture would as good if they were not there,
    Cheers Ole

John, I understand what you are doing with the zig-zag path, but I would try cropping the stairs out - in fact, try taking the lower frame up enough to remove the dark area of grass in the left foreground, too. I think that makes the trees more prominent and makes the people on the path more a part of the story.

Thanks Greg, Griddi, Raymond and John for the additional comments.

Greg, as I said in my opening comment, I suspected a tighter crop would produce a better ( different?) image. I've tried it - see below. Not quite what you suggested because I wanted to keep the dog walker in the right place but what do you think?

I think it is better without the stairway but is this the same shot - or processed differently?
I wanted to keep the dog walker in there too, I think he/she is an important element of this scene. So, just to illustrate what I had in mind, I'll post a crop of the first to illustrate what I had in mind - and quite happy to delete if you wish.
