These are all very good, Kaye but I like the simplicity of #2 image. The owner or resident of that building must have a boat or some sort of transport that can be taken out of that door compare it to the last image where there are bricks piled up the door...just a thought.
Nice Kaye, the first one is my favourite.
Did you notice the smell? I went in September and didn't notice it at all?
Some great memories Kaye, for me as well as for you. Nice series. The Grand Canal in that warm light is particularly attractive.
This set is even stronger for me than the first set, though my wish for a blacker black point still holds true for this set. I just love the details of Venice and you did an excellent job of capturing them.
I'm trying to figure out how you captured such a large expanse of water in the first photo with no boats or gondolas. Surely you didn't remove them during post-processing.
In the first image, consider cropping at the top just above the tallest building and cropping on the bottom just below the far left building for a panorama-style aspect ratio.
Beautiful set of images![]()
Nice set, Kaye. I love the textures in the 2nd shot. In fact, I would probably crop most of the water out to remove most of the reflection and just have the wall as the subject.
The answer was in the other thread Mike - Kaye (and hubby) got up and out very early
Hi Kaye,
My thoughts on these:
#1 requires some CA (Chromatic Aberration) correction, but a good clear viw
#2 this composition doesn't really work for me, cropped a little too tight on left
#3 is another where I feel I wanted to see what was above
#4 is OK though - although the hint of flowers makes me want to see the whole frontage
Never satisfied, that's me!
I can't make my mind up about Venice, I visited when still a teenager - and that was a very long time ago, even so, I think I'd rather like to visit some 300-400 years (?) ago to see it when it was all 'new' - the unfortunate tidal extremes and flooding over many winters has done so much damage, as we can see
If only they had built it as a floating city, rather than as it is. Probably a silly thing to say; likely impractical back then.
It sadly seems much of the city is now beyond practical help/repair nowadays.
Thanks Izzie. Indeed there was a boat.....but not one you would want to include in the image - hence Dave's requirement for more because perhaps they are cropped a little too much....I am going to look at these again and also the black point. Thanks for your input Mike and to you all for looking and commenting. I'm glad I provoked a few memories too.
Nice series Kaye#1 is my fav and I like the light on the buildings very much.
