    Shooting a toothless dog

When Carlino was found on the streets of San Diego, he had a severe infection of his gums. The only solution was to send him to a canine dentist (yes there are such people) and have his teeth removed followed by a regimen of antibiotics. He does very well with no teeth as long as his food is comparably soft.

There is a problem in photographing him though. His tongue tends to slip out from between his lips.

And other times, when I caught him with his mouth closed, his lips were curled up in a grimace...

However, with patience, I did get some acceptable shots of Carlino...

This one with his tongue out doesn't look too bad. In fact it makes him look happy...

I think the first one is brilliant and will attract the right kind of person to love him for who he is

Love the first shot. I think his tongue hanging out and his big brown eyes, really look cute. The tartan bow tie completes the package.

    Hi, Richard!

Do you struggle with wanting to keep all of the dogs you foster?

I took in two English Cocker Spaniels as fosters and now will end up keeping them. They are as different as night and day and fill my soul with joy.

I love the style that you have evolved to capture these dog's personalities.

    Marie...

Yes it is frequently quite painful to part with some of these dogs. But, we need to place dogs to have room to save more dogs and my wife and I are growing old and adopting a dog is a lifetime commitment...

However, I have kept Sasha, my terrier because she has a pre-seizure disorder and is on medications. I love this little dog and want to ensure that she will be continued on her meds...

I wanted to get pictures to show you, but it is a bit like herding cats at the moment.

Marie, I know you have dogs but I thought you just have them for the farm...like what Bill and his family had before...

Richard...I am with Mark (Marlunn) about his wish and comment...+1 for him.
