Take off - C&C are most welcome

This picture was taken from the bird view point of Paro Town of Bhutan, where a plane was taking off.

Please share your C&C for the same.

    Thanks,

    Tejal

Part of the problem is that it doesn't look like a plane taking off. The plane and the runway look out of proportion?

    Hi Tejal,

The second image, in post #3, shows the context, but I prefer the second version of the first image for 'drama' - since it appears to be turning towards a rather large hill/mountain - although I'm sure there's a gap to fit through we can't see.

While it is an unusual angle, I had surmised that the plane had lifted off about half way down the runway, explaining its relatively high altitude by the time it appeared to be roughly at the end of it.

Living fairly near Heathrow, I am well used to the planes being quite high shortly after take off (e.g. compared to landing).

Nice capture of the angles of the ascent, layers of the terrain, and leading lines of the composition.

Thanks Dave for your comment. I have some more moments too, but here I found the clear layers of hills as well as back ground in plane is clear, so I selected that. I have the other crop too of the same image, which is here :

Thanks John . Before I saw your comment, I just replied to Dave that I liked the layers of hills, so I selected that shot .

Landing at Paro is quite the experience. It is considered to be one of the scariest airports in the world to take off and land at. The plane has to turn and fly around the mountains on take off and landing. It's a visual flight rules airport (no instrument landings here), so conditions have to be right, or the plane can't land (or take off). On our flight in we ended up circling for an hour, waiting for a thunderstorm above the airport to clear. You get very close to the mountains and buildings below on the way in.

It's scary when the pilot comes over the intercom and suggests we pray for the weather to clear so that we can land. He is a short video of a landing from YouTube:

Madiera is BAD, just not as bad. The old Kai Tak airport in Hong Kong was Maderia like except one flew through the middle of some blocks of apartment builds on the way in and the runway ended up in Hong Kong Bay.

Don't I know this?! I don't know about that one in India until you put the link in, thank you btw, I have Bill watching it too...then told him about Kai Tak airport which is no longer in use now as the main airport...but at the time I was going to HK, I don't know whether we will land safely or not. I gave up going to HK then. But now they have this new airport, I'd like to take Bill to an Asian food tour that will include HK...Thanks for the reminder...

Anyway, moving forward, Tejal...I prefer #1 the best. I can understand that shot better...
