Hi Mike - This photo was so nice that it made me put away my laptop and view it on my desk monitor. I think it is very sharp and the various tones are pleasing to the eye. It also looks like you used a warm gray but that might just be my old display unit. The vertical/horizontals must have been a challenge but I think you did great job given the scene. The only suggestions that I offer are (1) to crop just a bit off the left side. I imagine you tried that already and decided to leave that to allow viewing of the interesting lighting on that side...(2) clone out a few of the white spots at the bottom of the picture. Best regards - Sam

Thanks Sam. It's pretty much out of camera (50mm prime) with a b&w conversion in Silver Effects Pro. It certainly looks at its best in a lightbox on a big screen. I shall print to 16 x 10 or there abouts.
I must be honest I hadn't even noticed the white spots. You are absolutely right in that they ought to go but in truth they don't bother me. As for the crop, I did want to keep the light on the stonework to the left but had limited crop options due to the other bits and pieces on the wall, so left it as shot.

There is enough light to reveal the things and enough darkness to create tension.... excellent image
