Such a wonderful composition!
You must be having a wonderful time. In my book, there is no such thing as shamefully playing a tourist so there is no need to mention that you're shamelessly doing it.
Great and lovely
Um - you are a tourist. What's wrong with acting like one?
Your wildlife photography skills that you developed at home seem to be helping in this environment, although I suspect you were able to get closer than to some of the wildlife at home.
Beautiful
Thanks for the comments, everyone.
It just felt a bit hypocritical since we live in a tourist area and I've sworn under my breath many times when people stop their motorhomes in the middle of the highway to photography wildlife. Actually for both safety sake and out of courtesy I did stay out of the road here
Indeed there was more risk from passing cars than from the critter. You can see I only needed 184mm(276 FF equiv) for a full frame shot. The lady was going about her business eating leaves without regard to the growing crowd beneath the tree. As a matter of fact she was annoyingly oblivious as she wouldn't even give a bit of eye contact to the cameraYour wildlife photography skills that you developed at home seem to be helping in this environment, although I suspect you were able to get closer than to some of the wildlife at home.
You could almost argue that the joey is looking at you though.
Nice shot.
Cute shot and well taken.
Sweet image.....
Griddi......
Now that you mention it, we went to the Koala hospital in Port Macquarie. While we were waiting for the official tour to start we wandered around and chatted with a couple of the people that were in working at various tasks with the koalas. By doing so we also saw several of the animals at viewing distance of just a few feet. Full frame iPhone range. We came away with our cuddly little illusions shattered. Also several of the ones that we saw in the wild were rather mangy looking. Thanks to Disney, my entire generation (at least in the USA) grew up with a delusional view of what wildlife is really like. I've been overcoming those delusions ever since one species at a time...
