    lately I have found myself moving around a subject to see what the camera will see. Seems to be working.

    That's called "working the shot". It's something experienced photographers tend to do. Small changes in the position of the camera, framing, focal length, shutter speed and apertures can turn an okay shot into a great shot. Sometimes more drastic action may be required.

    as long as it doesn't involve cutting things off.

    They both have their beauty but the colour is certainly more dramatic
