    Pushkar Lake #1. C&C Welcome

Hi, going forward on my photography venture I stopped and clicked another shot. Can you please review it and let me know what exactly is missing for it to make it much better?

I have deliberately underexposed the image to get such exposure for foreground because i wanted to use these birds as counter points in terms of compositions.

Please provide your views and suggestion with composition, frame, crops and processing as i'm really confused with the crop. If I crop off the bottom part then it becomes a bit neutral (but i like the cropped version more)

    Thank You

PS : Please click on the image for lightbox screen view (Highly recommended)

Hi Raj I would crop the image from the bottom to eliminate the bird on the very left hand side. IMO composition would look more balanced and neater this way.

Thanks a lot for your kind review and suggestion. I felt the same in the first thought but then refrained myself to crop because I wanted to hear the views of Respected Cic members

    I agree with Binnur Raj,

I'd crop just above that closest bird.

If you wanted to leave the current aspect ratio and proportions of sky, reflection lit water and dark water, which are currently about on the 'thirds' lines, you could consider cloning out the nearest bird and also darkening some of the stones in the foreground towards the right hand third.

Or do both; losing a little off the image height and removing what's left of the bird.

I think the flying bird adds something (a bit of action in the stillness), although some may suggest cloning it out (indeed I might normally). I do wonder whether it is in the ideal place for the composition though and you might consider 'moving' it.

Just kickin' ideas about (cloning isn't everyone's cuppa tea), Dave

I see two compositions, one with the birds and one without; I think the one without is much stronger as presented.

thanks a lot for your kind review and suggestion. Personally I dont have any problem in cloning out any of the element for better composition

Normally I would suggest cloning the flying bird, but in this case I think it makes the composition more energetic and adds to the mood of the image. So, I wouldn't clone it

Raj - this is a tough one. The image is nice, but has two "flaws"; the bird on the bottom left and the blurry bird in flight. As usual, I find it easier to show what I'm thinking in edits, rather than just in words. I think the exposure is bang on; the image just doesn't have the same impact if you lighten or darken what you show here.

Cloning out the bird is easy enough, but the image loses a lot of the continuity and balance of the original, so cloning alone isn't going to work.

Assuming you want to stick with the aspect ratio of your original image, you will probably have to crop out the left hand side of the image close to the next bird on the left, as well as a bit off the bottom to get effective use of the remaining birds. This throws the top of the image out a bit to, so a small crop there is probably required.

I actually like the position of the bird in flight better in this shot. I felt it was a bit too centred in the original, but then it is still blurred and I find the light and reflection on the left hand side of the shot a bit distracting now as it is so close to the edge of the frame. Cleaning up these two things results in this image:

I remember taking pictures of the lake and town from a position past the left edge of this image (right near the "No Photography" sign...

I too think the image looks better after removing the bird with a beheaded look; regards
