This photo reminds me of what a lot of my flash pictures look like.
The flash is adding the required light to make a good exposure, but it is killing the natural light and the mood it lends to the subject, IMO. I can imagine that it is a lot darker in that room than the picture would lead you to believe.
    Am I right?

I'd like to lose that small window at the left hand edge as it pulls the eye over there.

A great scene. I, of course, would like to turn it into a B & W.

I'm with Donald. I'd clone some of that lovely rusty brown curtain down over the small window. Then the fellow working the bellows is framed by the curtain on the left and the other equipment across the bottom. I think this sets the scene.
I love the photo. Well done.

Jim - let me be the dissenter here. While I like the overall setting and see what you are trying to do, I find the scene a bit too busy and definitely over-processed. I find the B&W does not work at all as while you have lost some of the colours, the complexity remains.

While I don't really love what I've done here, I'd be tempted to move in this direction:

    Working the Flame

I find the image is about the blacksmith and not as much with where he is working.

It seems to me there is something missing from the right hand?
