    Patience & Luck

Here's a shot that I took with a ratio of about 50 failures to 1 successful shot. I noticed that fish were jumping the other day and thought I would try to capture it. I had my 300mm lens on so it was super frustrating only seeing a small portion of the water and waiting and hoping a fish would jump where I was looking and that the camera could focus fast enough. I would be looking through the lens hear a fish jump swing over capture a splash or see one and get a slightly out of focus shot, it drives you nuts! But did get this one.

Great shot! Have you tried photographing a bursting soap bubble? Might have a similar percentage of keepers.

Yes I have and while they are tough at least you know where the action will be taking place, I would say soap bubbles are more fun but equal percentage of keepers. Thanks for the complement

Roger...a bit more patience and persistence and you could have caught some of those fish to bring home for your supper...LOL Good shot!

With those conditions that is a great shot. Is that an Asian Carp?

50 to 1? That actually sounds like pretty good success rate. Nicely done.

Roger, I do lack your patience...would have considered tying a fly/bait to a line draped above
the water as a lure for the fish, prefocused and waited for the inevitable to transpire.

As Winston Churchill famously said "never give up, Never Give Up, NEVER Give Up". It sure paid off here.
