    Flag and Dumpster

I just love viewing images in this style of photography though I rarely pursue making them myself. That's because doing so requires such a major effort, usually very time-consuming, to simply find the scenes. I came upon this one as I was walking around a neighborhood with camera in hand while waiting for my car to be repaired. I can absolutely guarantee you that I would otherwise never have noticed it. In fact, I can also guarantee that if I had walked by the scene just a few feet to the left or right, I still wouldn't have noticed it. I'll explain why later in the thread.

NOTE: The image really is supposed to be of a flag and a dumpster. If a different image is being displayed, that's because the TinyPic gremlins are acting up again.

Looks like a flag and dumpster to me, a bit of lost and found art. Nicely spotted and captured.

Hmm. I see a dumpster, flag AND wooden pallet. Other than adding the aforementioned pallet, TinyPic seems to behaving itself for me.

On the other hand, this type of image seems a bit out of character.

So did you bring the mirror home?

If I had taken the mirror home, the flag wouldn't have been reflected in it.

The mirror is the reason I would never have noticed the scene if I had walked just slightly to the right or left. The path I took coincidentally allowed me to see the reflection of the large flag hanging from a tall pole on the other side of the street. Seeing it gave me the idea that I had to somehow get a photo of the scene including the flag without including a reflection of me in the mirror. To make that happen, I very slightly adjusted the base of the mirror to affect the tilt.

If that's a flat mirror, that must be a humongous flag if it was across the street!

    Well spotted Mike.

    Cheers, Dave

It is a flat mirror and the flag wasn't just on the opposite side of the street. It was well past the street in the next block. So, yes, it really is a very large flag.

The really odd thing is that apparently everyone else can view the photo I took even though it has never been displayed on my end.

Nicely caught...very interesting indeed. I suspected right away it was a mirror but Jack beat me to it with his quip...

Way too funny! Perhaps nobody other than me understands what you're joking about. Anyone would be crazy NOT to like her! In fact, I'm a little disappointed that I no longer see the photo of her on my end and instead see my own photo.

I have had strange things like that happen lately.

I like it Mike and love how wandering about with the camera allows us to see things that we might otherwise have passed by mirror or not

This type of image is something I have been working on of late in my own work even though I haven't been about here very much to comment or post.
