Well taken - composition, exposure and focus all good. I have never seen one before and find it a very interesting rather than appealing mushroom. In fact I am relieved you did not video the close up view just in case all the segments wiggle independently ....![]()
This is really a new thing to me; well captured; by the way, did you experiment with its culinary possibilities?![]()
Nice find. New one to me.
Nice capture Jeffery, interesting find.
Nandy...it is edible! I was about to ask but I googled it instead. Nice find, Jeff! I love mushrooms...
Nice picture of an interesting mushroom. It is clearly one of the Hedgehog mushrooms (reflected in the specific epithet erinaceus). The ones I have seen in the UK have been quite small, just 4-6cm across. How big was yours?
John
Thanks everyone. It was an interesting moment for sure. Nandy, I didn't test any uses of it at all! I wasn't going to touch the thing because I had no clue what it was. I didn't know if it would "sting" me or not. My wife said it looked like a sea anemone and that's all it took to freak me out.
Thank you John, it was about the size of a softball, which is about 9.7cm in diameter. When I researched it though, there were some photos that showed enormous ones that resembled cave rock formations!
Very interesting mushroom type Jeffrey, thanks for sharingI especially like the second image.
