A Perch Above It All (Architecture)

It's been awhile since I posted (back in March to be exact - time does fly!) and I have been plugging away with my photography among travel and other pursuits. Happy New Year to you all! One of my resolutions is to become more active in my participation at CiC.

I will jump back in with a shot taken just before Christmas and processed today that I am quite fond of...

A Perch Above It All (Architecture)

As before I am working on defining a project and my focus of late has been on community architecture and how we interact with it. This scene caught my eye on a recent walk about with the camera.

    Any and all C&C welcome.

A very nice theme to be in monochrome; well done; happy to know you are going to be more active here; Happy New Year

    Thank you both.

The funny part is that I made a decision that the series would be in color however the building was off white and the sky was cloudy so the scene lent itself to a monochrome conversion.

    Here it is in color:

With that sky looking somewhat patchy, I think going B&W was the correct option.

Very nice, Shane...I like this one for the lines, composition and clarity..

Thanks Izzie! Believe it or not they are both the same image composition and crop wise. The only difference is the processing.

I like them both but since I am gearing towards studying black and white, I'd prefer the conversion...

Part of the reason this works so well for me is that the perspective is so interesting. We who have not seen the building have no idea how far the upper ceiling extends beyond the frame and that characteristic is especially appealing to me.

Thanks Mike! I have a broader view of the building but I did like the mystery of this shot as well. It's a bit deceiving due to the angle of the shot.
