Re: Two from the other day
Nicely framed on the first capture, not enough contrast between subject and background on the second image.

Re: Two from the other day
I agree with Shadowman regarding the second photo, I think a more interesting/colorful sky could really push it a step above, I do like the way the water is caressing the walk but I would really like to see a little less blur in the waves; maybe instead of one photo you could take several with different shutter speeds and merge them to get the look that would bring more umph to the photo. As far as the first photo, the perspective is really catchy; the door looks much smaller than it probably is and the color really helps make it stand out.

I think the full door is mostly behind that wall...I like the image...interesting concept.

Pat; i like the second one; you may please increase the contrast a bit there
Regarding the first image: human eyes are naturally disturbed by the blurred/OOF parts in an image; in this image 2/3 part is like that which affects the net output, even when this part is not the main subject; i don't say i did not like it, but i feel a bit uneasy with it

Re: Two from the other day
The first image is an interesting idea but it doesn't really work for me.
I have tried a few similar scenes over the years; and ended up ditching all of them.
Maybe try going square and cropping closer?
The second one was another good idea but your shutter speed was a little on the slow side for that surf movement. So it ended up neither sharp nor silky smooth.
