I really liked the image; technically speaking what Manfred said is true that major part in the image is covered by the misty spray...but the original scene is also like that only; so mind immediately adjust to that and i felt like being there...again the green is due to dissolved mineral or algae???

Joe, there is a surprising amount of detail in those central highlights even though it is a JPEG. I use CS6 (I am not familiar with Lightroom) and used the shadow/highlights tool but careful use of any curves tool should bring it out. If the original is in RAW, it should be even easier. Gives the comp a focal point.

Whoa. I have just noticed that the detail I thought I had revealed looks suspiciously like a portion of the waterfall to the left. I haven't a clue as to why that is because the clone tool was not used in any way during my processing. That is very strange!

P.S. Just tried to reproduce it and I can't. Apologies if I have mislead anyone. Totally unintentional.

John - there really is a waterfall behind all that mist. Joe's shot is the Horseshoe / Canadian Falls at Niagara Falls. Your edit might have enhanced something behind the mist.

This is a wider view of the scene, albeit in the winter; but the falls wrap all the way around.

Thanks Nandakumar. Yes the green is from dissolved minerals in the water. The water fall is normally enshrouded in mist because of the very high volume of water going over it and the pounding as the water smashed into the rocks below. the mist is part of the experience.

"What can be seen today, looking toward the American side, is perhaps the largest display of this type of rock, known as a Silurian exposure. Silurian simply means from the ancient geological period known as the Palezoic Era. Shale, sandstone, and limestone are all in the area. The stunning emerald waters of the Niagara River are also the result of erosion causing an abundant supply of minerals to be displaced in the water. Approximately 60 tons of these dissolved minerals come sweeping over the Falls every minute. The green color is made from "rock flour" which are dissolved salts from finely grained rock believed to come from the limestone bed of rock".

You could have brought it up a little bit more, John...

Manfred, that is a great winter shot...

No idea what happened here. As Manfred has pointed out the detail on the left is actually correct as it is the the left section of the horseshoe. The detail in the middle is somewhat puzzling as it appears to be the lip of the falls but not at the correct elevation.
    I don't know.

Joe, I can only think that the clone tool was still selected from a previous PP session and a tool that I selected for this session was not picked up at the first attempt so that I inadvertently transferred some detail into the area which was then enhanced when I applied the Highlight/Shadows tool. Apologies for the CU.

No problem John. Stuff happens! Thanks for clarifying both the anomaly and the mist!
