Monte Carlo Classic car rallye 2016

A couple of days ago I attended the start of the UK leg of the Monte Carlo Classic Car Rallye with my son. It was a great event, apart from the weather. What concerned me was that this car was a car of my youth and now qualifies as a ''classic''. All c&c welcome.

Superb image, Gerry. Picks up all the atmosphere of the event. Well done.

Thanks Donald. Such a great event and especially for Paisley hosting it for it's 3rd year. Unfortunately the ramp was a little bit too steep this year and it claimed a few cars from the start.

    Gerry, I'm sure you're a classic too

... but I know what you mean, I left school in '72

Getting on topic, I cannot see any EXIF data as the image is png format - can you tell me if flash was fired by you (or anyone)?

I ask because of the faint image 'in front' suggesting that if the flash was yours, it might have been better triggered on the rear curtain.

That said, I suspect you might have been panning with available light and one or two other spectator's flashes illuminated the car for you resulting in this effect.

    Best regards, Dave

Dave, I was flashing 2nd curtain but unfortunately it didn't quite work out as I was surrounded by so many flashes.

    Great shot... + 1 to Donald's comment ...

ah, let us put it this in another context, if the son you brought with you is still very young, the "classic" car will not matter much in age. But if your son is somewhat after his "teens", then I'd feel classic too.

That's a nice image Gerry. Whatever you did, it's captures the speed and fury of the occasion. Know what you mean about the car. Together with the Lotus Cortina, they were cars that I lusted after. Sadly the best I ever managed at that time was an Morris 1100.

Thank you Gerry. Isn't sad when the cars of your youth become classics - sad for me that is, not the cars.

Nicely done image. It is rather disconcerting if one dwells on the age of those models associated with youth. Another one that gets me is all of the remakes of "old" movies that don't seem so long ago since the original
