Mysore Palace is the home of the Maharajah of Mysore, the traditional ruler of Mysore. He and his family still live in about 40% of the palace, while the rest is a museum run by the government. The Maharajah ruled until India became a republic in 1947. We were told it is the second most visited building in India, after the Taj Mahal.
