    About loving your country

Earlier, on social media, I wrote a piece about the almost sensory overload that can come from a series of 'things' happening at the same time. One of those things was today (Feb 27) travelling through some of the most beautiful parts of Scotland as I went to visit my dad (about a 2 hour + journey from my home).

On the way home I came through the iconic and famous Glencoe, just for a bit of a change. The west highlands of Scotland were at their majestic best.

This is looking back towards the glen. Just over the edge of the road in the distance it starts to drop quite swiftly into the glen and the mountains rise up like great edifices on both sides. At this point I have exited the glen and am climbing up onto the equally famous Rannoch Moor.

This, if you like, is a celebration of my country. Any comments are welcome.

I have never had 'love of country'.But there have been times and places when I knew I was home.

Sure enough there is no place like home for giving one the sense of nostalgia. This is a lovely image.

    Very beautiful, Donald!
I'm not much on patriotism, but I do love the geography.

Donald, you do live in a beautiful part of the world. My partner's brother lives in Edinburgh, but gets out to the hills whenever he can. He is an artist and loves to capture the nature of Scotland's wild places and great light. So many people take their own country for granted or visit others instead of exploring their own, obviously you are not one of them: your images are great ambassadors.
    The capture is inspiring...

Great picture Donald - with scenery like that, and an eye for capturing it such as yours, I think we all love your country!

Both your words and the image bring back memories of a period in my life when I lived in Glasgow and this road was a regular week-end outing. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful capture Donald and I can fully understand the emotional connection to such country .
I find it interesting that for some, 'my country' is synonymous with patriotism.
I read your statement literally. I have an English father, and Irish mother and strong family connections to both countries. There are several places in England and Ireland whose emotional impact translates instantly to 'my country' for me, every time I get there.
