Wow! What a fantastic piece of rendering. You certainly have shown total mastery over a whole range of difficult skills and techniques.
However, if I had to vote on it, I have to admit that I would come down in favour of the original. Nothing to do with the quality of your colourised rendering, which is excellent. It is to do more with the 'gravitas ' of the B&W shot. But this is only my personal opinion with which those better qualified to comment will no doubt disagree.

Well done but I think it would be better if the background had some hue in it as well. Sepia or blue?
Excellent work; i think you could even bring out more details in the face and more life to it. Background could have been better and your water mark came out the worst part of it (j/k)
I agree that most of the colorizations I do look better in B&W mostly due to the fact that's how they were taken. I just like to see what they'd look like if it was taken on today's modern DSLR. It kind of takes the magic away from the B&W but at the same time gives a fun perspective on history.
