    Spaceship cloud

Last week we spotted a strange cloud in the distance and drove towards it for about an hour. Eventually we had to be very brave and drive under this very ominous looking cloud hovering in the sky. We were in it's shadow for about 25 Km so it was pretty big.

    Hi Paul,

it's a lenticular cloud. Only ever seen one up close, in fact only ever seen one ...Often mistaken for UFOs and ye can see why.

Now that the television series, X Files, has returned, I have to ask if the aliens abducted you.

Seriously, the second image is good enough that it would be worthwhile to take the time to minimize the haze and perhaps add a bit of drama just to pique the interest of the inner conspiracy theorist in all of us.

Yes Boab I suspected it was but most of the ones I have seen in the past have not been stacked.

Nice captures, Paul. I've never seen one before either. It looks like a baby cyclone.

You need a reasonably high mountain (not a rock) and water vapour in the air. Not ingredients you will usually find in Australia....

Thanks Greg. Not a cyclone but it was a bit eerie knowing I had to drive under it.

Thanks Dave. We usually paint the red soil we import from Queensland green but if we run out green paint we use white paint instead.

That is a crazy looking cloud. Definitely looks like it's made with a purpose. Since then have you experienced any time/memory blackout? Headaches? Sudden urge to eat insects? Amorous feelings towards lizards?

I know you can trust anything you see but as you indicate without proof anything you hear needs confirmation. Glad to have helped.

My wife stopped me from licking the screen last night because I thought the cloud tasted like ice cream. That's not a problem is it?

Assuming you like ice cream it sounds like you found a calorie free dessert.

Do they use shock therapy in NZ? I hear that's not too pleasant.
