Can I get in first? - It doesn't bear thinking about.....
A lovely shot. I certainly would not provoke it but I suppose thoughts are safe to do so.
In all fairness I guess I leaned into that one
This guy was actually dozing in that position. Every once in a while he'd pop his eyes open then doze right back off. I thought the sleeping shots would be cool but they just don't do it for meLuckily I got a couple of frames with the eyes open too...
He looks all thoughtful/sad, as if he has something troubling him!
I like this pose...so cool and calm and collected. One of your most beautiful shots really...no need to make an excuse. Thanksfor sharing.
I agree with Izzie about the beauty of this shot. Congrats on such a superb capture.
Lovely Capture. Strange isn't it? Some of their mannerisms are almost human.
Nicely composed.
Beautiful shot! I would like to know what distance you were from the bear and the focal distance used if you don't mind...
All it takes is one to start a groan-fest.It doesn't bear thinking about....
I wish...I wish that I was 30 years younger and was able to accompany you on a shoot.
Carlos, I was shooting with a 500mm lens with a 1.5 crop factor sensor. I'd estimate the distance was around 50m.
I'm not sure how many more years I'll be doing this either. It can definitely be physically taxing. There are a few places with relatively easy access but still require a bit of walking. There is an outfitter in BC that does brown bear viewing completely by boat. One does still need to climb in/out of a zodiac multiple times.
I plan on doing more and more landscape shooting while I can still get out. Lighter kit to haul around.![]()
I think all they have on their minds is the bear necessities.
Great shot, Dan.
Sergio
You caught that bear with a wonderful expression!. It reminds me of people look like when they are just relaxing and starting to wonder about having lunch.
This is an awesome image... Can you tell me where it was that you shot it, and who is the outfit that lets you shoot from a Zodiac in BC - since I live in that province...
cheers
