Abbey of the Saints Nazario and Celso

Some pictures of the Abbey of the Saints Nazario and Celso (San Nazzaro Sesia, Novara, Italy). It is a rare example of fortified abbey, with a bell tower which was also a defense tower. The church was built in romanesque style, but later renowed in Lombard Gothic style. Other pictures of the Abbey of Saints Nazario and Celso and info about its history: http://www.milanofotografo.it/englis...ano.aspx?ID=77

Exif info of the pictures (lost during processing) can be found on the page http://www.milanofotografo.it/englis...ovara,%20Italy)

All pictures are fusions of three pictures taken with a Panasonic G2 on a scale of 2 stops, fused using the algorythm on the page http://www.milanofotografo.it/englishFotografiaHDR.aspx and finally optimized using Faststone.

Nice shots of a lovely structure. Perhaps a bit of straightening/perspective adjustment might be in order for the first two shots...

    Thank you!
No, I never adjust perspective. The pictures with corrected perspective look more natural at first glance, but if you look at them more carefully you will see that they appear distorted.
In fact it is our brain that corrects perspective while we look around. If you keep a paper sheet vertically in front of your face on one side, you will see that the borders of the buildings appear tilted compared to the border of the paper sheet.
Until you don't uses lenses with too short focal lenses not corrected pictures will look perfectly natural, once you are not used any more to corrected ones!

I agree to Richard's comments. That was the first thing I noticed -- it needs perspective correction.
