re: Yacht racing
Perfect candidates for B & W and well done.
I'm sure they might be nice colour pics. But they would be different pics. If in colour, then I think the subject would be the colour - of the sails, the clothes etc. But in B & W I think the subject is much more the action. You've removed the 'distraction of colour so that all attention is thrown on to the compositions ... which are about the action.

Hi Neil,
I have separated and numbered your shots for ease of feedback reference.
As Donald says, they are excellent B&W subject matter.
I like the narrow Depth of Field, so I peeked at the EXIF of the first to see what they'd been shot with; the answer being a 70-200mm f/2.8, Nikon I assume, on a D3S. 1/4000s, f/2.8 and iso 320 on Manual, processed in LR5.3 (Mac).
Looks like you managed to get quite close to the action, well done, Dave

Re: Yacht racing
Definitely mono for me also. These are really people shots and well caught. I particularly like the way that the direction in which the crews are looking, balances the composition in 1 and 2.

Re: Yacht racing
Neil, great action shots. I differ however from the consensus that B&W is the better medium for these action shots. I think colour (if bold and vibrant) will add excitement to the sailing. Everything is there, skill, intensity, colour. That is only my opinion.
Cheers Ole
