The Giant White-tailed rat is Australia's largest rodent; this one had a body length of about 40cm. What it was doing out in broad daylight I will never know. I hope the poor thing hadn't been poisoned, making it desperate for water - even seawater.
I know this one is OOF... But back-lit it was a PITA to get enough dynamic range to drag out any detail. I should have wound the ISO up.
There was a plague of these things up at Tinneroo Dam last year and they ruined a lot of car and caravan electrics and water pipes by burnishing their teeth on them. Years ago my sister lived by Black Mountain and had to use 2½" poly water pipes to stop them getting chewed (the rats can't open their jaws wide enough to get a grip).
