    Enjoy your art

I'm fortunate in that I work in some amazing buildings - while walking between them today I had to get a shot of this chap who was really enjoying himself with his watercolours, painting the Old Royal Naval College.

I tried a few angles but couldn't quite get the shot I wanted with him within the scene he was painting, but he looked like he was having so much fun in this image that I thought it worth working with as a street portrait.

Yes, it has a heavyish vignette . Yes, I like it. Yes, you can tell me you don't

    Enjoy your art

This is far beyond precious. What a wonderful expression on the man's face, the body language, etc., etc.!

No, it's not a "heavyish" vignette. Very tasteful in my mind.

I think this is one of those occasions when you can get away with a slight darkening vignette. In this particular case it doesn't look obvious.

Thanks for the comments. It was a lucky capture to a certain extent, but needed a bit of teasing in post to ensure his face wasn't too dark, and to highlight the weathered textures.

Geoff - I hope you know I was pulling yours (and Manfred's) legs about the vignette! I agree that here it adds texture to the background. In hindsight I wish I'd shot more open, but the reduced depth of field may have caused me problems with keeping the subject sharp as there is so little separation between him and the wall.

I'll have to see if I can find him again - but if I do, I'd love to pass it on.

Love this - makes me feel happy too. Most memorable portrait I've seen in a long time
