The poor persons orchid: A Yellow Walking Iris

    F/18, ISO 100, 50mm. Aperture priority
Three days ago we rescued this plant from the side of the road. The first blossom fell off, the next two didn't open. This morning I got this shot. (and a few other keepers). This flower is going to develop a whole new set of skills. And be a real treat for the Tamron 90 when it arrives.

I'm hoping they will cross over to 'macro' skills when I get the Tamron.

Irises are so very difficult to photograph. You have done well with this image.

Brian, excellent capture. Yellow flowers can be the devil to get a good balanced image of. Those 'golden' pollen? on the surface of the petals are extraordinary.

    Very nice capture...

I selected the petals, reduced the green (reflections from the foliage), increased the saturation and increased the structure...

    What do you think?

a little harsh? almost over-sharpened. This is a very soft flower.

I'm not sure of the identification of the center strips but in my latest shot they resemble nothing so much as jewels on a throne.
