    My TwelveTrees Project - May

    My TwelveTrees Project - May

This is my first post on the site - just found it today!
I've just updated my TwelveTrees Project for May - comments and criticism welcome.

I thought that the May entry for my TwelveTrees project would be easier than the white knuckle ride of April. I did shoot a nice Horse Chestnut in bloom earlier in the month, but I couldn't isolate the tree from the background, and what I really wanted for May was - a may tree. And that's where the problems started. Hawthorns in hedgerows, check. Singleton thorns in full bloom, tricky. In the end it took until the last few days of the month to get this image. It really has to get easier in June - doesn't it? I feel an Oak coming on...

Nice venture to undertake, nice first effort.

Thanks. It was originally a "One Tree" project - but that didn't work out!

    Hi AJ,

Welcome to CiC. You found a nice tree and captured it well. In this case I would ignore the rule of third and I would crop the right side to centre the tree using a square crop ratio.

Thanks, that's an interesting comment - much appreciated. I seem to be seeing a lot more people centring the subject these days, unless it's just my imagination. In this case, my choice of crop was dictated by the clouds. A lot of my tree pictures are actually sky picture with a tree in the way ;-)

And I was just about to mention the clouds --the tree is a little bit soft but otherwise I agree with Andre about the crop suggestion...did you use a tripod to shoot this one?
