    The lamb and the log

I'm not familiar with this symbolism of a lamb and a log. Over 100 years of weather has deteriorated the stone finish.

I, too, am not familiar with what the lamb and the log means, but it's good that you have made a photographic record of this particular monument before it eventually succumbs to weather and becomes indistinguishable .

the lamb is a sign of christianity possibly on a childs grave ? the nearest I can find for the log is this - 'Tree Trunk Leaning - Short interrupted life', again if on a childs grave ? question is who was the gravestone for ? there are quite a few sites that list this kind of thing - http://www.thecemeteryclub.com/symbols.html is one that appears to have some legitimacy on what it says

For whatever it's worth, the log appears to be oak. Tradition says the cross was crafted from an oak tree. The lamb is a symbol of innocence. Combine the two?

Thank you for the replies and information. This was a child's grave and there seemed to be mostly children buried in this section of the graveyard. There were a few other headstones with log or tree trunk themes.
