    Sturt's Dessert Pea

This is an * Oldie * I photographed it with my first digital camera which was a Olympus -770, and I found this Sturt's Dessert Pea flower in Alice Spring N.T. growing on a medium strip.......so I laid flat on my stomach to take a photo of it........several people who would not have noticed I had a camera in my hands ........came rushing up to me, and asked anxiously * if I am o.K. ? * ......

Kind and caring people......but I was a bit embarrassed .......

If I laid down to shoot a picture, I would probably need their help in getting up

Very pretty...but then you know me -- I like reds and orange colours. No really, Stuart's pea, exactly how wide, big, is this flower? Is it like a vine or something or a "normal" plant that is planted on the ground upright? Guess I should google my question, eh? Very bold colour.

    Izzie....thank you !!!!!!

The Sturt's Dessert Pea is growing very low, and sort of a trailing plant, and may cover quite a bit of ground.......

    Re: Sturt's Dessert Pea

I googled my question and found my answers then another question popped up because Don Burke said it does not grow in Victoria so I asked why -- actually, it does not grow near the coastal areas from Queensland to Melbourne. Further research revealed that there are now some hybrids that can be grown near coastal states. No wonder it is SA's national flower. It is very beautiful...

    I learn something everyday... Thanks.
