Before you do, when offline, click on the image first. Then move it around in lytebox from corner to corner and top to bottom when you will know where to crop it ... or leave it as it is...I am sure I will not want to crop at the top...but that is just me...

Thanks Izzie. I have e not been using Lytebox, so I guess I should get familiar with it. I though it on!y showed a slight!y larger version of the shot. Didn't know you could!d shift the shot around it. I must try it!

Hi Joe, another lovely set. My fav is #1 . I was going to suggest cropping the light colored rock on the RHS but you already mentioned it

If I may add my observation about #1, I might consider a selection of the light-colored surface of the one rock that is drawing all the attention and darken it with a curves adjustment in PS before deciding to crop it. Someone mentioned earlier about the down-side of losing some that side of the photo. I tend to agree that it would be a shame to lose the rock with a crop, IMHO because it tends to anchor the walkway to the land and tends to add some context to the image.

Thanks Jeff. I will try that approach first.

Agree with Jeff--using curves or burning in will accomplish the same thing I think. The rock does have purpose in the composition.

One thought on composition that these images bring up: did you have a story you wanted to tell or an emotion you wanted to evoke when the viewer looked at these?

Nicely exposed. Beautiful light in the second and third!

    !
Thanks Judith. No, there was no theme running through the 3 shots. In the first I was focused (pun intended) on framing the moon between the 2 trees. In the second and third I was taken by the fact of a beautiful day with beautiful view of the lake and the benches were empty!

    Rock Stars.
These rocks have been featured in several of my recent pics. Today I wanted them to be the 'stars' of my shot.

Sorry for missing your posts lately -- I was busy for a few days practically indoors avoiding the heat of Florida amongst other things. For the first batch I prefer #2 and #3 because of the light peeking through the trees. I think it is really very pretty. Good composition on both. I also like the composition of this last one with the rocks. Showing the rocks on the foreground really made the bigger ones stronger.

It's always nice to hear from you Izzie. I too find myself late or missing my comments, but hey , sometimes life just gets in the way 😀. For the rock star picture, I took the shot from as low as I could get without getting my camera wet. This required a lot of bending of the knees which sometimes can be a little painful. My next camera will have a screen which can tilt!

Re: 2016 Project 52, Second Quarter by Joe/ Joebranko

I have been taking all my recent shots from the same location, on the beach of Lake Ontario, in Hamilton. I have started taking my 8 month old Labrador pup for walks mornings and often afternoons too. My wife walks the dog which gives me the opportunity to shoot pics. So if the subject of my shots look repetitive, well that is why. This restriction of subject matter forces me to try different compositions and different lighting to try to make nice pictures. I hope the repetition is not boring for you.

#1. This is the same set of rocks as in my last shot but with a different composition. There are some birds just above the water on the horizon.
