    Sunset Barn and Sky

The conditions for the past three weeks have been perfect from my point of view. Thunderstorms to provide great skies and blooming canola for the foreground. The only drawback has been access to several of my favourite sites as the back roads have been mud. Two days of the storms not dumping downpours in one area allowed one road to dry enough to be passable again by last night

    So off I went

You're back !! The barn can do with a teenee-weenie bit of brightening without losing the drama of the atmosphere, don't you think? Just a thought...

You've to the barn centred (left-to-right). Thinking about composition, was that the best place for it in the frame? I'm wondering if that's where it ended up in the frame because you were working to get the sky well composed ... which it is?

I thought you might twig to my return to this barn!

The barn is about as bright as I can get it in post processing. Without becoming weird. The barn is in deep shadow and any more brightening and it becomes a strange pixelated tan colour. I have a five shot sequence I shot for processing in HDR, but no time to work on it yet. Perhaps soon.

I am glad you commented on this aspect. I posted this to see if it passed muster in this forum. I picked up on the position of the barn just after shooting but decided to keep the shot anyway.

The composition was a compromise. I was trying to get the colour across the sky and cloud texture using a wide angle lens. The barn ended up in the centre, which is less than perfect. I have other shots with a wider view, but this was the first I processed. i toyed with several crops, but I could not stand to loose either side of the clouds

The one I posted on my 500px site (link in my signature) has better composition.

It is nice; but compared to the other ones in this series, the light was not helping as far as the barn is considered... surprisingly the barn looks a bit cut and paste too

The image is very processed, especially the barn. I worked like the dickens to avoid the, as you said "cut and past" appearance around the barn but the edge of the mask is just too stark a transition. Probably a set of more accomplished hands could have dealt with it in a better fashion.

The light was incredibly hard to deal with. Shooting directly at the bright part of an otherwise dark sky with deep shadows on the foreground. I wanted to keep the sky detail of the clouds lit by the sun and still have the foreground. Finally had to accept more clipping of the highlights then i wanted.

This version today is brighter. Did you brighten it a tad from yesterday?
