Ditto to everything positive already mentioned in this well-deserving thread.

These are some of the best macro shots of wasps I've ever seen. Simply wonderful!

Donald, Nandakumar, Chris, Jim, Rita, Richard, Dan and Mike, thank you each for commenting.

For info this was a rare session where I did not use flash or manual focusing for close up work. AF was used because I found it more successful than moving the camera which tended to scare them too often.

Doesn't the sound of the lens focusing bother them? I would have positioned my hand to cradle the lens and rotate from there. I guess my system is the reason why I cannot get proper shots of insects...

'Need another update of Rusty...sounds like he found the right master. Has he trained you yet? (Sorry, I can't help that last sentence. I just have to ask...)

When they're busy at work, they seem oblivious to everything else.

For some reason Izzie they did not seem to worry about the sound of either the VR or focus movement.

I can only think that they were so engrossed in stripping the wood fibre it's only a change of light/movement in front of them they take notice of. There was not a single shot I got of anything other than their head down working away

My aim now is to try and get one in flight, something I have never achieved and envious of those that have.

I'll look out a couple of recent shots of Rusty and update his thread
