Re: 7D Mark II Auto-Focus Guidebook
Yup. I was nonplussed when I bought my 5DIII, which has a similar AF system, a couple of years ago. I still haven't mastered the options for tracking moving objects because I don't use that often. For the rest, it just takes time. I assume that the 7DII is as customizable as the 5DIII, and if so, it's well worth the time to sort through the customization options and fiddle with the ones that will matter to you. I changed a bunch of things, including a few AF controls. I changed the way of changing the AF area, and and I put the selection of the AF point on the multicontroller.

Yes, it takes a while to get it all, Richard, doesn't it. But if you're like me, it was a case of one day everything slotted into place and it all made sense. It is an amazing auto-focusing system.

Thanks Richard. Certainly useful for reference.
Btw, the pdf needs a password to open.

Bobo...
I opened and printed the pdf without any password requested. I wonder if I already had a password entered.

"Michael the Mentor" does some very good instructional videos. I viewed him for my 7D when I first got it. Thanks for the reference, I'll make use of it...

Hmmmm, I downloaded the pdf and then tried to open it but it asked for a password.
Then I just pressed the down arrow and the document opened in another window without asking for a password. I then "printed" it out as a pdf.
